The Politcal Tax Obfuscation

It still makes me wonder why John McCain can’t or won’t stand up to Obama’s claims that 95% of the country won’t be touched by tax increases.

The middle class in America is already struggling because of huge unrestrained property tax increases in places like Calvert County, Maryland. Democrats raised the Maryland sales tax in January of this year, school spending is unrestrained. All of this is financed by Obama’s so-called struggling middle class. Obama’s tax hype is just an obfuscation. He knows the middle class is already taxed to death.

McCain needs to expose the obfuscations and the politicians on both sides need to start thinking about the welfare of the majority of citizens in this country. The ones that really feed the local tax systems. The ones that have to budget to stay alive. The ones that have to decide between groceries and health care, rent and feeding a child, child care or leaving a child home alone.

There is no energy policy so we are all paying more than we should for energy. There is no financial plan for our country so we are all at the mercy of greedy politicians and Wall Street speculators.

The obfuscations are the distractions. McCain start pointing out the obfuscations. Communicate with strength of purpose. All you need do is tell the truth.

Who is Watching the Calvert School Board?

The financial world around us is collapsing and the Calvert County School Board is telling the Recorder that they are oh so happy about the 57 million they plan on spending to rebuild Calvert High School. Everybody’s property tax check in Calvert County Maryland sends better than 50% of that money to this spend thrift organization. They build and and build and build. There’s no telling them no! Who is watching the Calvert County School District? Who is reigning in spending during hard times? Is there a conservative voice on the school board maybe saying this really isn’t the time? It just completely amazes me that this Board knows no bounds! They PLAN on tax increases before they happen. That’s how sure they are of themselves. They can fleece the citizens here with apparently no oversight. It is high time people started complaining and the Board starts to justify why they can’t do without during hard times for everyone else. What do you think?

(Doug: Whatever your faith, this weekend when you visit your place of worship please remember these men and all of the full-time and part-time reserve Coast Guard. In Southern Maryland we rely very heavily on these valiant folks, as I am sure they do in Hawaii. This event is particularly sad and it should not go unnoticed by the millions of us that use America’s waterways and depend so much on our Coast Guard. The next time you see a Coast Guardsman thank them for their service. God bless our Coast Guard and God bless the victims of this horrible accident.)

Calvert County Opens Shelters

Our family subscribes to the County’s automated emergency telephone service. An automated call was received at 8:20 PM this evening advising us that an emergency shelter was open at Calvert High School as of 8:00 PM this evening. The shelter is also a pet shelter that can accept dogs or cats in cages. The county is concerned about flooding and extended power outages causing persons to find their homes a bad place to be. This is a great service by the way. You should sign up for it if you havn’t already. After this storm of course.

Waiting for Hanna

Here in Calvert County we are all waiting for Hanna. Neighbors along the Bay are parking their cars on the hill next to our house anticipating flooding. Folks are chatting with neighbors on their doorsteps looking anxiously at the sky. This is our third tropical storm since 2001. We hope this one just drops some serious rain and blows over by Sunday.
