Credit Card Telemarketing Scam – 305-445-8932
In the last year my home telephones have received numerous calls from this telephone number. A recorded female voice claims to be my credit card company – while not providing the of the name of the credit card. The voice CLAIMS the company has tried repeatedly to contact me to lower my interest rates.
Clues this is a VISHING scam:
None of my credit card companies have contacted me or have authorized anyone else to contact me.
The calls come on telephone numbers NOT registered with my credit card company.
They don’t know my name.
This call is yet another telemarketing scam, one that I have repeatedly filed as a complaint with donotcall.gov. The FTC warns that they do not respond to individual complaints but that a database of calls from reported numbers is maintained and made available to law enforcement. Based on a Google of this telephone number it sure appears that a number of people are being harassed by this telemarketer. So after over a year what has been done to shut this telemarketer down?
A blogger at Bohemian Revolution wrote about calls from this telephone number back in February of 2008. This blog, Communication’s from Elsewhere wrote about the scam in 2007! Another blogger was so incensed that the blogger created a website dedicated to exposing the scam titled, “Stopping Heather.” Yet another anti-scam website has an actual recorded call from the scammer. The call is hysterical since the scammer was spoofed! This scam has apparently been around for years and the FCC, and FTC and several states attorneys general already are familiar with the calls. Nothing has been done to put these thieves out of their misery.
No company name is provided by the caller. The Caller ID says, “FLORIDA.” Interestingly that’s where the car insurance scams seem to be coming from. Do you suppose these calls are all coming from the same call center?
Has anyone ever determined who is making these annoying calls and masking the intent so that calls seem to be coming from a company with who you have done business and thus exempting the caller from the donotcall.gov registry rules?
What does it take to have telemarketers prosecuted under the law? It is time the FTC takes action against scammers especially during an economic down turn. There is a mountain of information on the company’s behavior on the Internet. It’s time something was done by law enforcement to shut the scam down.

They are still at it. Two more calls in the last 24 hours. This time the calls are UNKNOWN NAME UNKNOWN NUMBER.
The scam is a little different now. The telephone number is as I said above UNKNOWN NAME UNKNOWN NUMBER. Are they in cahoots with the telephone company now? Now a male voice says in a pre-recorded message that my interest rates are scheduled to go up this month and I should press 6 to discuss it with them. They identify as “Credit Card Services.”
Where is our FTC is on this complaint? Why is this company allowed to remain in business?
New call, same voice but different number. Tha credit card scammer is still hard at work! Today I received a call from 904-259-4351 (Caller ID showed this number and UNKNOWN NAME.
I have received numerous calls from this number. The most recent was this morning. I just went to FCC’s website (fcc.gov) to see how to make a complaint, since I am on the Do Not Call Registry. There is an electronic form you can file to complain. Also, you can get on the Do Not Call Registry, if you are not already listed on it. I ended up at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm to make my electronic complaint. If enough of us do this, maybe the FCC will help us to put a stop to this non-sense.
Hey the scammer has changed telephone numbers! The caller ID now displays “Not Provided” 239-482-3803. This time I pressed one. A young female answered. I was very polite and asked if I could get on their do not call list. She said yes and hung up on me.
The credit card scammers are alive and well and harassing Americans still.
The tele-harassment from the credit scammers continues! Got another call this afternoon. This time from FLORIDA 904-359-4745. Same MO. These morons have no shame and they must have some reassurance that our government is just too busy to do anything about them.
Ha! Another scammer offering lower interest rates on my credit card. I pressed ’1′ to speak to an agent, when she answered, I responded in my best announcers’ voice: ‘Hello, You’ve reached the office of the Attorney General, please hold while we trace your call.….. ””CLICK”” !!!!
Another call tonight. Same scammer. Unknown name, unknown number.
I, too, have rec’d several calls from the credit card company posing as my cc company. I have tried to call the number displayed on caller ID and rec’d audio msg This telephone number is not assigned. One of the numbers even had the msg in both English & French (Canadian company perhaps?). I have also pressed the 6 key on a few occasions and asked to have my phone number removed from their database and the customer svc rep immediately hung up on me. Very frustrating but without actual phone numbers from the orginal caller, I don’t know how they can be tracked.
Well I think these trolls now have caller ID because when I push 1 to waste their time and have a little fun at their expense they hang up immediately after answering. That must mean we are successful at yanking their chain. Today’s call was from FLORIDA 305-624-1514 at 12:27 PM.
Another call from these villains today at 1:35 PM. This time caller ID said New Brunswick 506-225-4566. I was able to waste the operator’s time for about five minutes. He was never able to tell me for which card he was calling just that they get their information from the credit bureaus! Now if that is true there ought to be a violation of law there. In any event this call was, based on poor call quality, off shore. The operator was not English-as-a-primary language. I filed YET ANOTHER report at donotcall.gov. I honestly do not believe our government is doing anything to put these people out of business.
Call today at 3:30 PM was from 850-386-1643. Yesterday another call was received “unknown name unknown number.” Credit card scammer is still alive and well and scamming.
Another call from these villains, unknown name, unknown number. I pressed one to complain and of course their minion said I would be added to the do not call list. Yeah sure.
Doug:
Are you still getting harassed from these creatures? They have been after me since about August ’09. Today I had enough when “Chris” told me he was with God when I asked who he was with and that God told him to call me. I filed a complaint online with the FCC and again tonight after the second call from these bozos. The number that shows up on my caller ID is 818-663-9472 and the person who is calling,it says, Do Not Answer. Ok..color me brain dead cause I answered. But through all of this I did get a number from Laura at the FCC for the phone number of the Federal Trade Commission 1-877-382-4357. She said that it would not hurt if I filed a complaint to both the FCC and the Federal Trade Commission. One more call, and tomorrow I call.
Please let me know if you are still getting calls? Thanks!
I received a call from these crooks late last year. Once I also had an argument with the creep that makes the call and on a fw occasions managed to tie one up for five to ten minutes just baiting him. Let me know how your complaints go. My personal belief is that the FCC and FTC have these problems as their lowest priority because these crooks have been in business forever it seems. I applaud you for staying with it.
