Tea Party: The Gadsden Flag – Don’t Tread on Me

An attendee of the Solomon’s Island, MD Tea Party was waving the Gadsden flag with its Don’t Tread on Me slogan. The message in that flag was so appropriate under the circumstances that my family has adopted it as our “flag-pole” protest against out-of-control spending. Don’t tread on me.

treadThis is the brief history of the flag taken from the Humphrys Flag Company from which I purchased our flag: “ Named after Colonel Christopher Gadsen of South Carolina, was flown early in 1775 by Commodore Esek Hopkins of Rhode Island, first Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Fleet. Its inscription represented a warning by the colonists to the British.  “

In our case, flying the Gadsden flag is a message to the far left in this country that uncontrolled spending and high taxes are not in anyone’s best interest.

Consider purchasing your own Gadsden Flag and fly this historic flag proudly in support of your principles and values.

Send me an email with a photo of your flag flying at home or at a tea party and I'll create pages for the pictures here. doug at dougweb.com

It would be great to see this flag on flag poles across the country. I think there is a ground swell that's brewing and you will see this flag more and more. I got mine.

  • Wavatar Doug says:

Mine is flying proudly under the stars and stripes at my home. Everyone coming into my neighborhood can see it. You're right. That would be a good idea. Seeing it everyday and not just at tea parties would send a continuous message.

  • Wavatar Bill says:

Mine is flying on our corner. I am using the First Navy Jack (13 stripes/don't tread on me).
